We received two translations today of the statement by AT President Petro Tyschtschenko which we ran in yesterday's issue. As promised, we are sending out this special mini-issue containing an English version. Warm "Amiga Update" thanks are due to Erich Keser and Dan Staerk for their assistance. They allow us to present the following which is more complete than the only other translation we've seen so far. One clarification is needed. It looks to us as if the official date of the statement is actually February 21, not March 2 as we originally thought. Brad Webb, Editor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- E N G L I S H V E R S I O N O F S T A T E M E N T STATEMENT OF PETRO TYSCHTSCHENKO, PRESIDENT OF AMIGA TECHNOLOGIES BENSHEIM, February 21, 1997 Dear Amiga user community It's been a long time since there has been any news on our Homepage. Nothing seems to have happened since october, but this is not entirely the case. First of all, I want to thank you for the numerous e-mails directed to me. Of course I also had to take some criticism for my long silence, but mostly I received encouraging support. I offer you my heartfelt thanks for this. It is truly a wonderful feeling to know that one can still count on the Amiga user community. What has happaened in the meantime? For the time being, VIScorp is officially out of the race. There are still persistent rumours of Vcorp interest in the Amiga, but no concrete indications. Thankfully, I have been able to convince the bankruptcy trustee not to liquidate the Amiga for the present. We have been able to continue doing business since the July 15th declaration of bakruptcy as if this had never taken place. Our distribution network has even widened: there is now a new Amiga-Distributor in Russia and one has also come forward in Malaysia. Price levels for our products are similar to pre-bankruptcy ones. We are able to maintain ourselves with our volume, and this is quite an accomplishment, given the circumstances. A big thank you to all AMIGA-Freaks who have, through their purchase of our products, helped our company to continue. Since the departure of VIScorp, an array of interesting Amiga acquisition proposals have been submitted to the bankruptcy trustee. He has still not committed himself, but in my judgement of the situation, there will soon be a decision. There are companies involved in the bidding process which want to continue the Amiga, and have the means to secure its future. Naturally, there are also companies who only seek parts of the Amiga yechnology. In the end, it will be up to the bankruptcy trustee to make the decision. He will be guided only by the maximum value that can be realized for the total Amiga property. There are exciting weeks to come. At present, our company is being maintened by only three co-workers: Axel Krämer and Andreas Steep in Braunschweig and myself. I have moved in the meantime and made my home in the one time ESCOM AG building. From there, I try to, as well as possible, to keep the AMIGA alive. You are welcome to obtain further details about other co-workers from the Webpage. As soon as there is a decision on whom the future Amiga owner shall be, I will forward further details to you. See you soon, Yours, Petro Tyschtschenko ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Amiga Update on the net: some issues available at: http://www.sharbor.com/amiga/news/ (in html format) http://www.amigacom.com (in ASCII text) Australian Mirror Site: http://www.comcen.com.au/~paulm/index.html All back issues available (in ASCII text) at: http://www.globaldialog.com/AdventureCentral/AU.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 1997 by Brad Webb.
