CLS-Syslogdaemon This is a simple syslog-daemon for MS-Windows and Windows-NT. Requirements: Microsoft WINDOWS 3.1, WfW 3.11 or WINDOWS NT Winsock-compliant TCP/IP-subsystem such as Trumpet-Winsock or MS-TCP/IP Installation: Start SETUP.EXE out of the Filemanager and follow it's instructions. How it works: After starting the program, any syslog-message directed towards the local machine will instantly be shown in the main window. The output-format is as follows: IP-Address of sender : local time : message The time shown is the system-time of the local machine at the moment of reception. This gives no clues as to when the message originated on the remote system. All output is also stored in a file named "SYSLOG" in the directory of the executable. Each message-line in the syslog-file is preceded by a machine-readable timestamp-line. Don't concern yourself with these lines, they're for internal use. The OPTIONS-dialog: Placing a checkmark in front of "keep only" means the syslog-file will be trimmed periodically. The number entered after "keep only" specifies the number of days it takes for an entry to expire. Each time the program is started (and only at this time), it will remove expired entries. Only show last 24h of syslog : Only messages that arrived during the last 24 hours are shown. This has no effect on the syslog-file. Show complete syslog: All entries (ninety at most) recorded in the file are displayed. Limitations: Only one instance of the syslogdaemon may run at any time. A maximum of ninety messages can be displayed. This is Version 1.0. It's propably anything but bugfree. Copy-policy: None. Do with it what you like, it's freeware. No warranty whatsoever is granted. Use at own risk. The copyright remains with: commercial link systems Lise-Meitner-Str. 1-7 D-24223 Raisdorf Comments and bugreports to: gunnar@freeside.cls.de
