SilverPlatter's Request-A-Print Utility Release Notes 11/2/98 SilverPlatter's Request-A-Print (RAP)Utility is part of a document request mechanism for the CC Search(R) databases. Using CC Search's RAP field set, the RAP Utility, and the RAP forms provided by the Institute for Scientific Information(R), you can easily prepare reprint requests. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS The RAP Utility requires: * Windows 95 or Windows NT * Tractor feed dot matrix printer or laser printer * CC Search(R) databases from SilverPlatter * Request-A-Print forms from the Institute for Scientific Information(R) * An input file that is generated from downloading records using Short field labels from a SPIRS search session. The field set to be downloaded is called "RAP". * Records downloaded from the following SilverPlatter software support RAP: - WebSPIRS 4.0 - WinSPIRS 4.0; 2.1; 2.2 - MacSPIRS 2.42; 4.0 (when available) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS * Place the RAP Utility installation program (rap.exe) in a temporary directory * Double-click on the file to begin installation * The installation program will guide you through the installation process. You will be prompted for the directory where you would like the utility installed and the program group that you would like to utility to be part of. HOW DO I USE RAP? Please refer to the on-line help for detailed information about using RAP. If you have downloaded records on a machine that does not have the RAP utility installed, the file should be moved to the machine where RAP is installed. WHERE DO I OBTAIN Request-A-Print FORMS? SilverPlatter's RAP Utility is designed for use with the Institute for Scientific Information's Request-A-Print Microcomputer forms, referred to as Micro-RAPs, RAP forms, or RAP cards. The forms are available in continuous tractor feed form for dot matrix printers or in single perforated sheets for laser printers and are not designed for use with ink jet printers or photocopy machines. By using the RAP forms with SilverPlatter's RAP Utility, you can print postcards and mailing labels from the information contained in the RAP field set download file. The RAP Utility prints each request and mailing label based on the contents of the download file and the requestor's mailing address.
